Music Authority Instructor Mitchell Auger - Voice, Saxophone, and Piano: Why do you like teaching? I love seeing those moments when a student finally breaks through something that is challenging them. Those light-bulb moments are really inspiring to both teacher and student. What makes you excited about playing music? The collaboration between singer and pianist is the greatest because you get to make music together. At that point it’s not just about you but the ensemble. Being able to perform great pieces with people is what music is all about. What’s your favorite food? All kinds of food are my favorite, but I will never turn down Chinese food! Where is your hometown? Alpharetta, Georgia In addition to a Bachelor's Degree from Piedmont College in both saxophone and vocal performance, Mitchell Auger has completed his Masters Degree at Appalachian State University in Vocal Performance. During his time at Appalachian State Mitchell has sung major roles in the operas such as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Larry/Matt in Face on the Barroom Floor. Along with these roles Mitchell has competed in different competitions such as NC-NATS and Concerto Aria and has placed at both. During his time at Appalachian State Mitchell was awarded the Chancellor’s Fellowship along with a graduate assistantship in teaching Voice Class and singing with Quintessential, the graduate vocal ensemble. |
