Music Authority Instructor Jeff Gray - Bass:
Why do you like teaching? I love teaching because I enjoy passing on the traditions that were passed on to me. I come from a jazz background and have taken lessons and master classes from the great players in jazz that were more than happy to share their knowledge and wisdom with me. I feel that If I can do that with my students, then the tradition of music will live on.
What makes you excited about playing music? Music is engrained in my soul. I have played music since I was a child, piano, and have added many instruments to my repertoire throughout my life. Music helps me to relax, concentrate, get my art out and groove. I couldn’t imagine my life without it. It has also presented many opportunities for me throughout the years. I have shared the stage with many of my mentors including Brian Setzer, The Stray Cats, Adele, Dick Dale, Mudhoney, and the Presidents of the United States of America, just to name a few.
What’s your favorite food? My favorite food is a good street taco from a taco truck. It’s all about the salsa!
Where is your hometown? My hometown is here in Georgia. I was raised in Stone Mountain.
Anything else you would like to add? Keep playing, no matter what. Let music live in your soul and express itself through your groove.
