Music Authority Instructor Cynthia McWhorter – Piano:
Cynthia has been playing the piano and singing for as long as she can remember. Her love for music was sparked by her playing for her family in churches from an early age.
Her first piano lesson was when she was just six years old. She took piano lessons from a local teacher (Rebecca Fagan). She learned technique, theory, and the basics of playing the piano. Later, she started incorporating classical, pop, and hymns (chording/runs) into her repertoire. She progressed throughout the years and took piano from Mrs. Fagan until graduating from high school.
She started teaching piano to friends, family, and neighbors from her home when she was just a sophomore in high school, teaching as many as five students after school each day of the week for a total of 25 students. She continued to teach from her home until graduation. Throughout the years thereafter, she has taught many students from her home, until joining Music Authority in 2022.
In high school, Cynthia was very involved in the choral program where she was the president of the chorus for several of those years. During those years, she was part of many ensembles and even went to State where the groups won many awards.
Her love for playing piano and singing has flourished throughout the years. She now plays and sings at weddings, funerals, church (congregation, choirs, and soloists/groups), and other social events.
In addition to her love for music in all respects, Cynthia’s first love is to God and her family. She is a committed wife to her husband of 25 years, mother to her three lovely daughters, and “Gigi” to her six amazing grandchildren!
Cynthia has a true passion for helping others learn an instrument and watching them fall in love with music. Cynthia loves to watch her students actively learn and she loves to watch the progress they make—all the while inspiring them to pursue what they love!
