Music Authority Family Newsletter - April 26, 2026 The Importance of Peforming Performing isn’t just the “final step” in music—it’s the catalyst that turns practice into real growth. When students perform, something shifts. Pieces they’ve played dozens of times suddenly feel different under pressure. Nerves kick in, focus sharpens, and the music becomes more than notes on a page—it becomes communication. That moment is where real musicianship begins to take shape. Performance builds confidence in a way practice alone never can. Each recital, open mic, or casual showcase teaches students how to recover from mistakes, stay present, and trust their preparation. Over time, those experiences reduce anxiety and replace it with a sense of ownership and pride. It also accelerates progress. Knowing there’s a performance ahead gives practice a purpose. Students tend to practice more consistently and with greater intention when they have a goal—and a date—on the calendar. That accountability often leads to breakthroughs that might otherwise take months. Beyond the technical benefits, performing creates connection. Music is meant to be shared. Whether it’s playing for family, friends, or a room full of strangers, students learn that their music has the power to impact others. That realization is often what keeps them inspired long-term. Do you know students who take a break over the summer lose ground on their lessons? Muscle memory starts to fade and progress regresses over long breaks. Instead, make the most of your summer and sign up for one of our summer camps - your student will keep learning and will have a fun time while doing it! Rock Camp, June and July Rock Camp happens twice every summer! These two camps are designed for students with experience on their instrument. Campers will be placed in teams (bands), will learn about various parts of the music industry, learn songs, and perform in a concert at Rosati's Pizza on Saturday night. You don't need to be a currently enrolled student at Music Authority to attend. There is limited availability for this camp, so sign up now to hold your spot! The Music Authority Roadies The Roadies are a group of parents and adult students at Music Authority.  They meet the second Tuesday of every month at 6pm in The Backroom at Music Authority.  You can think of the Roadies as  Music Authority's PTO.  They sponsor special events, service projects, and work hard to make sure our teachers feel appreciated.  We welcome any Music Authority parent to come to our next meeting! Our next Roadies meeting will be on May 12 at 6pm in The Backroom.  We'd love for you to join us! Beyond auditions will be held on May 7 at Music Authority. We're sad to see Brody, Sam, and JP go but we wish them the best.  Parking Lot Rock Saturday, May 9 6pm Food truck and music, what more could you want? Join us for the final Rock Ensemble concert of the season! Bring a chair, bring your appetite, and be prepared to cheer on the bands as they show off what they've learned this season!
