Music Authority Family Newsletter - November 26, 2024 Meet Andrew Loggins Melissa and Andrew Loggins are the owners of Music Authority, which opened July 4th weekend of 2002. Starting out with just six lessons studios and about thirty students, Music Authority has come a long way under their leadership.  Last month, you got to know Melissa. This month, we're going to introduce you to Andrew. Andrew was born and raised in Dawson County, Georgia. The son of entrepreneur parents, he learned early in life what work ethic looked like by watching his parents run their carpet cleaning business, Clene Start.  School wasn't exactly Andrew's thing. He started skipping school very young, although that didn't work out well for him because his mom was friends with his homeroom teacher, so she always found out. He did graduate high school, after taking biology three times, and immediately went to work in a local music store. Music was a focal point for Andrew throughout his life. His whole family played music in church (his mom plays piano, his dad plays guitar, his brother plays bass, and his sister is a professional violinist). Andrew's first instrument was drums, which he played for a number of years. He also played violin and trumpet growing up before he landed on guitar. Eventually, hoping to find focus in life, Andrew started working at his dad's carpet cleaning company during the day while at night he attended The Atlanta Institute of Music (AIM) to get a degree in guitar. This experience did much to help him prepare for teaching and running Music Authority. After AIM, Andrew played with a number of musical artists, including several summers on the road with Atlanta Musician Ty Reynolds. He was regularly travelling to cities like Auburn, Athens, Montgomery, Biloxi, and others to play. Life on the road can be exhausting and grueling, something that eventually caused Andrew to want to pursue more musical opportunities in the Atlanta area. Today, Andrew prefers to focus on his personal songwriting and teaching his students. You can find his music on Spotify, search The Young Rockets. (You can also find him on Instagram.) When he's not playing music, he enjoys drawing and taking the dogs, Ralphie and Randy, to his parent's farm in Dawson County. Melissa A. Loggins, Owner #MusicAuthorityFamily Click Here to Log In to Your Lessons Account Music Authority's Holiday Concert Join us for Music Authority's Holiday concert, to be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Friday, December 13 at 7pm. There is no ticket fee for this show, but please bring a non-perishable food item for the food pantry at The Place. Register for Spring Rock Ensemble Does your student want to be involved in Music Authority's rock band program? Registration is now open for Spring Rock Ensemble. Rock Ensemble is our five month program.  Students who are already in lessons at Music Authority can register to participate once registration opens.  If you are not a student at Music Authority, you will need to register for lessons first. Band placement will be announced in December. It is highly recommended that your student participate in Rock Camp or a Spring or Fall Show before they join Rock Ensemble. If you're not ready for this program, our Spring Show sign ups are also open. The Spring Show is an 11 week program that places any Music Authority student into a band that will perform one to two songs in a concert. We recommend all students participate in this program before applying for Rock Ensemble. Stop by the front desk for more details or call 770-886-9066. The Music Authority Roadies The Roadies are a group of parents and adult students at Music Authority.  They meet the second Tuesday of every month at 6pm in The Backroom at Music Authority.  You can think of the Roadies as  Music Authority's PTO.  They sponsor special events, service projects, and work hard to make sure our teachers feel appreciated.  We welcome any Music Authority parent to come to our next meeting! Our next Roadies meeting will be on January 14 at 6pm in The Backroom.  We'd love for you to join us! Music Authority's Fearless The Holidays are Coming!
