Music Authority Instructor Steve Molitor – Woodwinds and Piano:
Steve began playing the saxophone at age 10 while growing up in Wisconsin, and a year later began playing the clarinet. In middle school he was introduced to jazz music and he was a student at a jazz camp in northern Wisconsin for three summers. At that time, he also began honing his skills on the flute. Shortly before his 15th birthday, he got his first professional gig with a polka band and began performing live nearly every weekend. Steve was named to the very first Wisconsin All-State Jazz Band in his Junior year of high school, and toured for two summers with a musical troupe called the Kids From Wisconsin.
After graduation, Steve went to Indiana University on a music scholarship where he studied with noted saxophone professor Dr. Eugene Rousseau. He completed a degree in Woodwind Performance and began his professional career touring throughout ten states with pop/rock bands. Three years later, Steve joined the military to fly aircraft, but he continued to perform with a variety of military groups, from polka to big band jazz orchestras.
At the conclusion of his active duty military career, Steve moved to Kennesaw. Since then, he's performed with numerous local artists at venues in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.
Steve currently lives in Marietta with his wife Kelley, their dog Lyndi, and cat named Clay.
