Dasonville's Moonshine Festival has been a fall show destination for Music Authority bands over the last three years.  This year, Rise, Eclipse, and Vintage Cab will all see stage time at this street festival.  The three bands will play at the Finish Line stage starting at 11am on Saturday, October 22.  So bring your folding chairs, grab some boiled peanuts, and come enjoy the music!
Local Atlanta band Drivin' and Cryin' gave several members of Music Authority Family bands an opportunity to chat and take in a show on Saturday, October 15.  Christian Strandquist (of Eclipse), along with Transcend members Margot Murphy and Jackson Warren, and Rise member Savannah Hughes spent some time backstage at Chastain Amphitheater before watching the set.  Jackson Warren said of the evening, "I thought it was a great opportunity to talk to professionals and listen to their advice on being a musician."

Music Authority's Performance Program

Cumming, Georgia, October 14, 2016 – Music Authority bands will be rocking the stage at Dawsonville’s Moonshine Festival for the third year in a row.  Teen bands Rise and Eclipse, along with their adult band counterpart Vintage Cab, take the stage in downtown Dawsonville starting at 11am on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

The Moonshine Festival, now in it’s 49th year, commemorates Dawsonville’s history through Prohibition, when running Moonshine was a way of life, and the birth of car racing.  The festival takes place throughout downtown Dawsonville and features care, music, food, and street vendors.

Music Authority’s Rise, a classic rock band, takes the stage at 11 am.  You can expect familiar rock tunes from bands like Def Leppard, Ozzy, and Poison.  This will be their third appearance at the festival.  Brayden Sudduth of Rise comments, “It is a great honor to be returning to The Moonshine Festival with RISE for a third year! I can’t wait to see what other bands will be joining us this year."  Music Authority’s Eclipse will be making their second appearance at the festival this year.  Playing a variety of contemporary adult and teen hits, you can check them out at noon.

Neither teen band is a stranger to playing gigs in adult venues.  Over the past three years they’ve played establishments like 37 Main, Roswell Tap, and the Moonshine Festival.  Musicians make a one year commitment to the band that culminates in a New Year’s Eve show for teens.  Positions in the band are assigned through an audition process.  All Showcase Band musicians are students at Music Authority in Cumming, Georgia.

These young musicians are able to experience the realities of being in a band many adults only dream about.  "This is playing in the community, getting your name out, wanting a variety of people enjoying the music that you love playing!”  Says eighth grader Savannah Hughes from Pickens County Middle School, “It's going to be a super fun, great experience."

This year, the two teen bands will be joined by adult band Vintage Cab.  They play a mix of country music and classic rock “sing along songs.”  This will be their first major gig as a band.

"To entertain the Mountain Moonshine Festival crowed, help out with a very worthy cause (KARE for Kids), and make music outdoors in the beautiful city of Dawsonville... it doesn't get any better,” says Tyler Marshall of Vintage Cab.
